Efficient systems for vehicle safety testing
The effectiveness of braking systems on trailers and towed machinery is subject to strict testing in Europe. Accredited testing organisations such as TÜV and DEKRA have the task of ensuring the functional safety of all vehicle systems within the scope of the homologation of tractors and trailers or towed machinery as well as within the scope of the legally prescribed regular tests. The basic principles for testing brake systems in Europe are described in ECE Regulation No. 13 for Class 0 vehicles (trailers with compressed air braking systems) and Class R and S vehicles.
Based on a long-standing cooperation with the market leader of brakes in the utility vehicle sector, IGEMA has developed an electronic brake test unit (BTU) for the assessment of vehicle brakes in dynamic field tests, which is easy to handle and provides reliable and reproducible results. In addition, IGEMA supplies diagnostic systems for checking the overall road worthiness of trailers and towed machinery.
